Graduating Students

International students graduating from UNF are eligible to purchase up to one year of GuardMe health insurance for post-graduation. This allows you to have a transitional health insurance plan if you plan on remaining in Canada after your final term.

Please note that this health insurance policy has different levels of coverage than the policy you were provided with during your studies. Additional details regarding the plan can be accessed here.

If you wish to purchase this coverage through GuardMe, you must do so within 30 days of your last GuardMe policy expiry date. If you miss this deadline, you will not be eligible for coverage.

The Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) is Ontario’s official health care plan and covers many health services you may need. More information on OHIP can be found here. If you are considering moving to a different province or territory, please refer to the Government of Canada’s website and select the area you plan on moving to for more information about available health plans.

Details regarding additional insurance plans for you and your family post-graduation can be accessed through the OmbudService for Life and Health Insurance. This website lists 22 private insurance companies that provide health and dental plans. You can visit each company’s website and explore different health insurance plans to meet your needs.
