Domestic Awards and Scholarships

Awards are offered based on registration and academic criteria and are divided into two categories, entrance and academic. Students may qualify for multiple awards however, they will only receive one award per category.

We provide entrance awards to newly admitted students based on eligibility. The outlined criteria apply to entrance awards available to domestic students, which refers to citizens or permanent residents of Canada. Individual awards also have specific additional criteria and requirements.

  • Students may only receive one entrance award per program.
    • If eligible for multiple entrance awards, you will only receive the award with the highest value.
  • All awards are disbursed as a tuition credit. Award money cannot be used for any other purpose.
  • Additional requirements and documents may be required for certain awards.

Entrance awards are bestowed automatically.

No additional application is required as these awards will be granted at the point of admission when eligibility criteria are met. Please review awards terms and conditions for additional details.

Students are required to remain in good academic standing, according to their programs specific grading scheme, term over term to continue receiving funding.

  • Should a student fall below the margin, but remain active in their program the following term and recover their term GPA to once again be declared as in good academic standing, they are eligible to once again receive the funding (not for the previously missed term; only moving forward for future terms).
  • Students must remain actively enrolled in their program, in a full-time capacity.
  • The total value of the award shall be allocated in installments based on per-credit awarding over the duration of the student’s academic program, in accordance with the prescribed disbursement schedule and the total number of applicable program credits.
  • Students shall be eligible for consideration only for entrance awards that have been formally established and publicly published on or before the date of commencement of the student’s academic program. Notification of entrance award eligibility and the corresponding award value shall be provided to the student in the Offer of Admission and the Letter of Acceptance. Any subsequent revisions to entrance award eligibility or value, if applicable, shall be reflected exclusively in the most recent version of these documents.
  • Upon commencement of the academic program, the student’s entrance award eligibility and award value shall be deemed final. Entrance awards are not subject to retroactive adjustment, reconsideration, modification, or appeal under any circumstances.
  • Should a student withdraw from their program/term after funds are dispersed, any awarded funds for the current term will be returned to the institution in accordance to the below conditions:
    • Student withdraws prior to deadline – while the award should not be dispersed at this time, if for any reason it has, its returned in full as the student would be receiving a full refund less $500 administrative fee.
    • Student withdraws after registration deadline, but prior to academic deadline (receives W grade), student receives pro-rated refund of the amount they've paid depending on calculated days, and the awarded funds to be returned to the institution in full.
    • Student withdraws after the 50% deadline of term, no funds are returned to student and while we would not be able to recoup any award, the student would not qualify for the next term regardless of academic scenario.
  • All scholarships, bursaries and awards are subject to change without prior notice. If the allocated pool of financial support is fully utilized by the eligible applicants before the end of the award program’s validity, the award offer may be withdrawn - unless you have already received an official Letter of Acceptance.

Scholarship disbursement and eligibility

Academic scholarships are assessed based on a student’s academic performance in the previous term and are applied as a tuition credit to the subsequent term of study.

To be eligible for scholarship disbursement, students must:

·       Be registered in a full-time course load for the term in which the award is applied

·       Remain actively enrolled as a full-time student at the time of disbursement

Scholarship funding is only applied to future terms of study. As such, no scholarship or monetary award will be disbursed for academic performance achieved in a student’s final term, as there is no subsequent term in which to apply the award. However, academic achievements in the final term may still be formally recognized.

The total value of scholarships available to a student is dependent on program length and continued eligibility. For example, in a five-term program, a student may be eligible for up to four scholarship disbursements based on performance in the first four terms.

All awards are issued as tuition credits only and cannot be redeemed for cash or used for non-tuition expenses.
