Medical University of the Americas
Founded in 1998 on the beautiful and peaceful Caribbean island of Nevis, Medical University of the Americas (MUA) has helped 1,800+ students achieve their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees.
MUA proudly provides aspiring physicians with the medical education and individualized support they need to achieve their dreams of a career in medicine. Successful students undertake two years (five semesters) of Basic Science studies on Nevis, before progressing into two years (five semesters) of Clinical Medicine rotations in the U.S. (core and electives) and Canada (select electives).
The MUA MD program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM), which is recognized by the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME). Medical University of the Americas alumni go on to practice in the U.S., Canada and internationally.
Partnership overview
Through the Pre-Med Pathway, eligible UNF students pursuing their Honours Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences (HBSc Biomed) degree can begin the MUA Doctor of Medicine (MD) program one year sooner than traditional undergraduate to medical school timelines.
This accelerated educational route allows pathway participants to complete three years (90 credits) of their four-year undergraduate program at UNF, and then begin MUA's 10-semester MD program.
After successfully completing the first two semesters at MUA (in Basic Science), students will automatically be granted their final 30 undergraduate credits and receive their HBSc Biomed degree from UNF.
