University of Niagara Falls Canada appoints Dr. Sandra J. Song as Provost and Vice-President, Academic

University of Niagara Falls Canada (UNF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Sandra J. Song as the new Provost and Vice-President, Academic.

“UNF is very excited to have Sandra and her vast experience, vision, and commitment to academic excellence contributing to UNF’s continued growth and success,” says David Gray, President and Vice-Chancellor at UNF. “I am happy to say Sandra is ready to hit the ground running and is looking forward to getting to know our university, our people, and our community.”

As Provost and Vice President, Academic, Dr. Song will provide academic leadership across the university, working with faculty, academic leaders, students, and university partners to support program quality, faculty development, academic governance, accreditation, enrolment growth, and student success.

“Most universities are adapting to a changing economy,” says Dr. Song. “UNF was built for one. That is what drew me here — an institution young enough to design its programs around where work is going, and disciplined enough to hold them to a high academic standard. My focus will be on strengthening that foundation, and on graduates the Niagara region is glad to have.”

Dr. Song’s innovative approach to education as “infrastructure,” a system that builds lives, unlocks social mobility, and prepares people to lead in an ever more changing and interconnected world, reflects her interdisciplinary background in sociology, social work, public health, policy, and community development and will bring a thoughtful and collaborative perspective to the Provost’s Office.
