The University of Niagara Falls Canada (UNF) has taken steps to support the academic journey of secondary school students in Niagara Falls, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with an area school.

Through this partnership, UNF and Kent School will explore educational initiatives and projects of mutual interest that engage students, staff, and faculty. This includes creating opportunities for Kent School students to gain early exposure to university-level programs and to discover the many opportunities available at UNF.

The first initiative under this partnership will create a clear pathway for Kent School students to continue their studies in Niagara Falls. Through this streamlined process, students will receive personalized one-on-one application support and, upon enrolling at UNF, may be eligible for the Niagara Region International Undergraduate Entrance Award, giving international students who studied at a Niagara high school the opportunity to qualify for domestic tuition fees.

Additional initiatives that may be established include training and professional development for Kent School staff, mentorship programs between UNF and Kent students, collaborative workshops, along with community engagement and volunteer activities.

“This partnership represents an important step in strengthening pathways for secondary school students while also building Niagara Falls’ reputation as a hub for world-class education,” said David Gray, President and Vice-Chancellor of UNF. “By working with Kent School, we can create new opportunities that inspire students to see the possibilities that await at the post-secondary level and beyond.”

“We are all so very proud of this amazing partnership. By fostering this valuable alliance, we are creating a vast network of endless academic and career opportunities for our Kent Students,” said Rob Ford, Principal of Kent School. “As well, our academic and administrative staff will equally benefit from UNF training and professional development workshops and many other exciting possibilities.”

Located in Niagara Falls, Kent School is a registered and accredited secondary school institution under the Ontario Ministry of Education. Offering the Ontario Secondary School Diploma through a rigorous, student-focused curriculum, Kent School prepares learners for post-secondary success in Canada and abroad.

The agreement was signed on Sept. 18 during a ceremony held at UNF.  In addition to supporting students directly, this collaboration highlights a shared commitment to building stronger educational pathways and expanding opportunities in Niagara Falls. This will help to ensure the region continues to attract and inspire learners from across Canada and around the world.
