University of Niagara Falls Canada signs MoUs to explore partnership opportunities in Tianjin, China
The University of Niagara Falls Canada (UNF) has committed to exploring collaborative partnership opportunities with educational institutions in Tianjin, China.
UNF recently welcomed a Chinese delegation to tour its downtown campus and learn more about the innovative institution that prepares graduates for leadership in a digital world. During the Oct. 16 visit, Cyndi McLeod, GUS Canada CEO and UNF President, signed three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
Aiming to foster educational partnerships and expand learning opportunities, two of the MoUs were with Tianjin Bohai Vocational School (TBVS). Signed by Vice Principal Kan Yi, one MoU outlines the potential establishment of an international talent cultivation centre on TBVS’ Bohai campus and the other explores the potential of a summer camp program at UNF.
The third MoU, signed by Professor LI Guishan on behalf of Educational Bureau of Tianjin Nankai District China, outlines a potential development of a teacher training program at UNF.

“The establishment of partnerships with these Chinese educational institutions is a crucial step in fostering global collaboration, knowledge exchange, and cultural understanding. These agreements provide a platform for our students and faculty to engage with diverse perspectives and contribute to addressing complex global challenges,” said McLeod.
The visit also included a special performance by the Song of the Mountains Choir from Tianjin University of Technology, enjoyed by UNF students, staff, and faculty. The moving performance, led by the choir’s director Professor Guishan, came after Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati offered greetings to the visitors.
Following their campus visit, the choir made its way to Table Rock Welcome Centre where they were filmed performing at the brink of Niagara Falls. That video will be widely shared across the Tianjin area to promote this partnership with UNF.
