With the turning of the calendar and a new term underway, the University of Niagara Falls Canada is bringing Winter Fest to downtown next week.

Set for Thursday, Jan. 15, the event will transform the surrounding area into a hub for festive fun. UNF faculty, staff, students, families, and the wider community are all invited to attend.

From 4 – 7 p.m. guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of winter-themed activities, including a silent disco and lawn games in Centennial Square in front of Niagara Falls City Hall. Heaters and fire pits will be set up to help attendees stay warm.

In addition to the outdoor activities, guests are welcome to step inside the Lake Ontario Lounge on the first floor of campus for free hot chocolate courtesy of Caffery – Your Café & Library, a Kids Corner, and to support the Niagara Falls Soup Kitchen’s chili fundraiser. Visitors can enjoy a hearty bowl of chili for a minimum $2 donation, with all proceeds going to the Lawrence Avenue soup kitchen. Only cash donations will be accepted.

Guided campus tours will also be offered, giving the community an opportunity to get a closer look at UNF’s learning spaces and facilities while also learning about the university’s programs, campus life, and growing presence in downtown Niagara Falls.

“Winter Fest is an opportunity to kick-start the new year by coming together with our community under the magic of Niagara’s winter landscape,” said Felicia Werner, Executive Director of Community and Alumni Engagement at UNF. “It allows us to support our community partners, give back to a great cause, all while having fun.”
