Helping students build confidence, connections, and important skills is at the heart of the Career Services team’s mission at the University of Niagara Falls Canada. This November, these efforts are taking centre stage during Canada Career Month, offering more than 20 events designed to support students take steps toward their future goals.

As part of this year’s celebration, UNF’s Career Services team is marking the occasion with a dynamic lineup of webinars, skill-development groups, information sessions, and special events focused on career readiness and professional growth.

While events and activities are hosted year-round, Canada Career Month provides an opportunity to highlight an even broader range of offerings.

“Our line-up of events this year offers many ways for students to get involved,” said Kimberly Cleversey, Career Advisor. “In addition to skill-building workshops and events, we are also hosting groups and activities where students can practice their communication skills while building connections across programs.”

Throughout the month, students can explore a wide range of in person and virtual sessions that focus on everything from building a professional brand on LinkedIn and growing their network to navigating the job market as a newcomer to Canada. This includes:

A hybrid workshop hosted by the Niagara Falls Innovation Hub designed for aspiring entrepreneurs and early-stage founders who are eager to build innovative ventures in Canada’s thriving startup ecosystem.

An in-person event that offers hands-on practice and expert guidance to support resume building, networking, job search efforts, and interview preparation.

A hands-on workshop where students can reflect on aspirations, values, and dreams to create a visual representation of the career and life they want to build.

To close out an exciting month of career exploration and connection, UNF will welcome various companies from across Niagara to campus for its Opportunity Fair. The event will provide a space for students to explore part-time jobs, volunteer roles, skills training programs, and internship opportunities in the community.

Noting the value and significance of the event, Jessica Desmond, Career Advisor, said, “The fair is an excellent way for students to discover new possibilities, make connections with local organizations, and take meaningful steps toward their career goals.”

Created by the Canadian Career Development Foundation, Canada Career Month highlights the importance of finding meaningful work and building strong career pathways. The campaign also promotes access to education and career services that prepare jobseekers to enter Canada’s labour market.

By participating in Canada Career Month, UNF’s Career Services reinforces its commitment to supporting students every step of the way as they prepare for life after graduation. From developing professional skills to growing personal networks, November is set to be a month full of opportunities for students to invest in their futures and gain the tools they need to succeed.  More information on upcoming events can be accessed on UNFConnect or by contacting careerservices@unfc.ca.
