Andre Plante
Andre Plante is an accomplished educator, researcher, and innovator with a career spanning over three decades in higher education, technology, and design.
Andre previously taught Data Visualization and Storytelling at the Université de l’Ontario Français, and served as a sessional instructor at Conestoga College, teaching Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR), the history and theory of XR technologies, and immersive storytelling in the School of Creative Industries.
His academic leadership includes his tenure as Provost and Vice President, Academic at Alberta University of the Arts, where he led the institution’s transition to university status. He also held faculty roles at Concordia University, Centennial College, and Seneca College. At Sheridan College, Andre served as Associate Vice-President of Planning and Associate Dean of Arts, Design, and Animation.
Internationally, he has contributed to the launch of a design college in Shanghai, a language lab in Vietnam, and led annual audits of the New Media Technologies program at Singapore Polytechnic. Andre has participated in groundbreaking research on interface design and Kansei technology at the ATR Communication Research Center in Japan. He also provides educational consulting services and develops extended reality (XR) prototypes using advanced tools such as ShapesXR, Unity, Adobe Aero, and Zoe Immersive.
