With a focus on academic English, you’ll learn the skills needed to study, write, and complete examinations with ease.
If you do not meet the minimum English language requirements for direct entry to your program of choice at University of Niagara Falls Canada, you can still improve your English skills to qualify for admission.
UNF has partnered with The Language Gallery (TLG) to offer a program designed to help you gain the language skills you need for higher level education in an English-speaking institution.
English for Academic Purposes powered by TLG is an online program that focuses on academic English, helping you develop the key skills required for studying in English at an undergraduate or graduate level.

Timeline
You will join an immersive cohort of other students from UNF in this 12-week course.
Course content
Through customized curriculum developed by experienced instructors, the program teaches you how to be successful in academic writing, referencing, researching, note-taking, listening, summarizing, synthesizing texts, critical thinking, and speaking.
Delivery modes
This course is only offered online. You will be enrolled into a unique online section and offering of Level 6 English for Academic Purposes at TLG alongside other students from UNF.
Schedule
The program will be delivered online Monday through Friday for the full 12-week term, including three hours of synchronous learning per day, as well as one hour asynchronous.
Progress
You will receive progress updates on Weeks 4 and 8, and your final grades upon completion of Week 12.

Academic information
Applicants must meet the following minimum conditions for admission:
- You need to have achieved a minimum IELTS 6.0 overall, with a writing band of at least 5.5 – or the equivalent results in another accepted test.

- Applicants seeking admission to an undergraduate or master’s program who do not meet the English language proficiency requirements at UNF will be notified if they are eligible to proceed into English for Academic Purposes powered by TLG. Applicants cannot apply directly to this course.
