Five unique student stories are featured in the latest edition of University of Niagara Falls Canada’s digital storybook.
To celebrate the start of the Spring Term, Edition 2 of Journeys shares stories from students about moving to Canada, and finding community through the classroom, volunteer and work opportunities.
“As Journeys aims to inspire students by connecting them with campus and community resources, while also preparing them for the realities of relocating to a new country, I see a great opportunity to reach incoming Spring Term students with impactful, real-life student stories,” said Kimberly Mikalauskas, Career Advisor at the University of Niagara Falls Canada.
Mikalauskas launched the digital storybook in January to help international students feel welcome at UNF and comfortably transition into a life and career in Canada. Edition 1 featured stories from faculty and staff at the university, but the goal was always to transition the storybook to sharing the stories of students themselves.
“[Journeys] was inspired by students I’ve met and supported at UNF and other institutions,” said Mikalauskas after the January launch. “I believe storytelling has a unique power to inspire belief, hope, and a sense of possibility and reminds students they are not alone in pursuing their goals.”
The students sharing stories in Edition 2 include Franklin, Sylva, and Utkal from the Master of Management program and Camille and Estella from the Master of Arts in Digital Media and Global Communications program. Their stories highlight personal growth, community involvement, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace new experiences.
The digital storybooks are available through the LibGuides online database at the UNF Library.
