Sami Coksan
Dr. Sami Coksan received his Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. Sami mainly focuses on intergroup relations, conflict, and conflict resolution, and seeks answers to the question of how we can live in a more harmonious society. His research interests include social identities, intergroup contact, irony of harmony, and support for pro-refugee social policies. As a postdoctoral researcher, Sami currently studies the effect of collective punishment on ingroup consolidation among non-perpetrators in the cross-cultural context.
Sami’s teaching style is interactive, evidence-based, and strongly connected to real-world applications. He encourages students to question assumptions, engage critically with research, and apply psychological theories to everyday social issues. Utilizing discussion, case examples, collaborative activities, and applied exercises, Sami works to create an inclusive learning environment in which students can actively participate. His goal is to make complex ideas accessible without oversimplifying and help students develop the analytical, methodological, and communication skills they need beyond the classroom.
